Please reach us at floridaswildestanimalrescue@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Bellowing Acres is located in Putnam County, Florida.
We are not yet open for visitors, but we hope to be open for private appointments by the end of 2024!
We do not offer any hands-on wildlife or animal encounters. Guided tours are for viewing only. Many of our rescued animals are shy and do not like human interaction. None of our animals are ever forced to do anything they do not want to do. During our tour, you will get to see our resident animals and learn about their individual stories and how they ended up at the sanctuary!
Our sanctuary is located in a 40 acre forest. We like to keep the landscape and trails as natural as possible. Trails are dirt trails that are clear of brush, but may be bumpy. The tour takes place outside, and depending on the weather it can get very hot, and there may be bugs. We recommend that you bring water to drink and wear closed toed shoes. Sometimes we do have free roaming animals on our property that may approach you, such as turkeys, ducks and goats. Our guided tours are not recommended for children under 5 years old.
We do welcome guests to bring approved snacks for the animals. Please note that this does not mean you will get to feed them.
Approved snacks :
Bananas (still in the peel)
Romane lettuce and Spring Mix
Unsalted shelled walnuts
If there are other snacks or food items you would like to bring, please email us before hand so we can approve it. Many of our animals on are very specific diets!
If you need to talk to us about surrendering an animal, you can email us at floridaswildestanimalrescue@gmail.com
We are home to a variety of animals including alligators, a skunk, foxes, coatimundis, snakes, and parrots.
With the exception of a few personal animals that live on the property, all of our animals came to us for permanent placement. Some were rescued, a few were donated by other facilities, and many came to us after their families had major life changes and they could no care for them, or they wanted a better life for them at the sanctuary. Each one of our animals has a name and a story.
If you have an alligator in your backyard, we suggest you keep a respectable distance. Do not walk your pets or allow children by the water's edge anywhere in Florida. Never feed alligators or try to touch them.
You cannot contact us directly about nuisance alligators. If you are concerned about an alligator, you can call FWC's statewide nuisance alligator program. Remember, you cannot request specific trappers and most trappers will euthanize the animal.
We work with a few select trappers who donate nuisance alligators instead of euthanizing them.
