Meet Our Alligators!

Big Mac

Big Mac the alligator was captured as a nuisance alligator on a highway in Gainsville, after being struck by a vehicle. A compassionate alligator trapper brought him to the sanctuary to spend the rest of his life instead of euthanizing him. Big Mac is 10 feet, and 2 inches long. He lives in a beautiful enclosure with his girlfriend, Bella. Big Mac still has equilibrium issues from the car strike, but he Is doing great.

Bella

Bella the alligator was removed as a nuisance alligator after she was found walking through a parking lot. A compassionate alligator trapper brought her to the sanctuary instead of euthanizing her. Bella was our first alligator at the sanctuary, and is a big girl at exactly 8 feet long! She is a sassy girl that loves to test boundaries and is always the first to lineup for mealtime! Bella lives in a beautiful enclosure with her boyfriend, Big Mac.

Dino

Dino is our 11'4" alligator that came to our sanctuary very sick and practically unresponsive. After hanging out in the shallow end of a boat ramp, he was removed as a nuisance alligator and was brought to us by a trapper. After many diagnostic workups, we discovered that Dino is suffering from lead toxicity from a lead fishing weight he ingested and is still trapped inside of his body! Dino is currently receiving medical care and we are working to put weight on him to perform chelation therapy to remove the lead from his system. Once he is strong enough, we will perform surgery to remove the lead sinker. Dino is making great progress so far with his recovery and is now eating on his own for us!

Tadpole

Tadpole is a small but mighty juvenile alligator that was sent to our sanctuary by a trapper after she was caught with a missing tail! Tadpole was originally called in as a nuisance alligator after chasing people's fishing lines! Although she would likely not survive to adulthood in the wild, we are confident she will live a long happy life at the sanctuary. She is not the best swimmer and requires special care and a special enclosure.

Patches

Patches came to us from a wildlife rehabilitator for permanent placement. She is a dog attack survivor and is missing scutes on her back, giving her the name 'Patches'. Alligators legally cannot be released back into the wild after being rehabilitated, but we were very happy to accept her into the sanctuary as a permanent resident.

Stallone

Stallone was removed as a nuisance alligator after he was illegally being fed by people. He was destined to be euthanized and processed for meat and his skin, but our sanctuary was able to cover the cost and pay the trapper what he would have made to kill him. Stallone is now a proud resident of our sanctuary where he will live in peace and be safe forever!

Damon

Wait a second, that's not an alligator! Damon is a juvenile spectacled caiman that was caught in South Florida by Chris! Spectacled caiman are an invasive species in South Florida, and are usually euthanized. Chris brought him back to our sanctuary since we have the proper permits to keep him. He will spend the rest of his life here, safe. Damon is missing a front arm.

Mushu

While not an alligator, Mushu the Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman is a resident at the sanctuary! He joined us in early 2025 after a friend of ours was moving and could not take him with him. He decided the best place for him to spend the rest of his life would be  with us and we are very happy to have hime here!

Gaston

Gaston was removed as a nuisance alligator and was brought to our sanctuary in 2024 after the trapper noticed how bloated he was! Shorty after Gaston gained social media attention, more people starting noticing and reporting MORE bloated alligators, and it has since become a statewide problem. After two exploratory surgeries, we still cannot solve the bloating issue. Hopefully we can get some answers and help solve this issue.

Matcha

Matcha is a spicy girl! Matcha came to us as a nuisance alligator after being caught in an abandoned pool. She is still fearful of people and spends most of her time underwater, so we haven't seen much of her yet, but we cannot wait to see her personality shine! Matcha lives with Dino.

TrapJaw

TrapJaw is a new rescue alligator! He was removed as a nuisance alligator from a residential area, and after the trapper realized he had an old snare stuck on his top jaw, he called us to take him in! The snare had been there so long that his face was growing around it! Luckily he is still a juvenile alligator, and has a lot of growing to do. We are confident that in a few years you won't even be able to see the indentations anymore!

Cheesecake

Cheesecake the alligator joined us in 2025 as a nuisance alligator from the Florida Springs. Shortly after coming to us, she suffered a strange, very serious tail infection. After diagnostics, we discovered she is suffering from lead toxicity, which weakens the immune system and causes other issues. She is currently undergoing medical treatment to get her back to health, but she is healing up great.

Stevie

Stevie the alligator joined us from Wisconsin with 'Iris' the crocodile for permanent placement after being kept as a pet. Stevie lives in our baby gator lagoon with Patches the alligator, and knows her name and comes when we call her!

Sponsor

Andarna

Baby Andarna joined us from a wildlife rehabber after being hit by a car. Alligators that are rehabilitated are not legally allowed to be released back into the wild, so she came to the sanctuary for permanent placement. Andarna was lovingly named after the baby dragon from the book series 'Fourth Wing', because every once in a while she needs a reminder that "we do not eat our allies".

Ballerina

We don't have great photos of her yet since she is one of our newest alligator residents,  but Ballerina joined us in mid 2025 from a wildlife rehabber for permanent placement. She was originally found emaciated and very weak, but has since put on weight and is eating on her own. She is missing one of her front arms, but that doesn't hold her back!

Mochi

Mochi joined us in mid 2025 as a nuisance alligator. Mochi is still shy and hides most of the time. She lives with Dino, Ballerina and Matcha. We can't wait to get to know her as she becomes more comfortable.
