Meet our Crocodiles!

Akila

Tick-Tock

Tick-Tock

Akila the Nile Crocodile is an incredibly special resident at our sanctuary because she was our first crocodile! She was donated to us in 2024 by Gatorland Orlando! Akila was the largest of her siblings and started picking on them. She is a highly intelligent animal that is knows her name and comes when called. Akila is 7 years old and her favorite form of enrichment is shredding pumpkins!

Tick-Tock

Tick-Tock is an 11 year old Morelet's Crocodile that was donated in 2024 by a private owner from Texas, along with 3 other Crocodiles! Tick-Tock does exhibit signs of metabolic bone disease in her face and teeth from long term captive-care. She is thriving in Florida at the sanctuary!

Angelus the Nile Crocodile joined us in 2024 from a private owner in Texas, along with 3 other crocodiles for permanent placement. We have suspicions that he may actually be a hybrid Cuban/Nile crocodile!

Cadmus was originally paired up with Lyra, and the two had lived together for years. But once they were moved into a larger enclosure at the sanctuary, he started to kick her out of the water and they had to be separated. We hope that once Cadmus hits maturity (he is still young) he can be re-introduced to Lyra. Although as a sanctuary we do not breed any of our animals (alligator and crocodile eggs are collected and not incubated), we do prefer to house the same species together when possible.

Lyra

Lyra is our smallest Nile Crocodile at the sanctuary at 6 years old and just 4'9! Lyra the Nile Crocodile  joined us in 2024 from a private owner in Texas, with 3 other crocodiles for permanent placement. We hope that Lyra can be re-introduceded to Cadmus when she is bigger.

Lyra

Iris the Morelet's Crocodile joined us from Wisconsin with 'Stevie' the alligator. We do not have much history on her, but we do know that the person who originally had her wanted to release her. Somebody else stepped in to get her to safety, and then contacted the sanctuary for permanent placement. She is missing a few of her toes, but is doing very well otherwise.

Nessie

Nessie is a Saltwater/Siamese Crocodile hybrid!. She came to us in 2025 for permanent placement from Texas, after her owner became terminally ill. She does have a misaligned jaw that makes her snout look like a 'scissor'. The story of her jaw is that 10+ years ago she got into a fight with two Cuban Crocodiles... and won. Her jaw definitely does not stop her from being a crocodile.
